Artistic Influences |
I am influenced by old masters: Degas, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Tintoretto, El Greco and Velasquez, as well as a few more modern artists: Manet, Cezanne, Stanley Spencer and Francis Bacon. I love to watch ballet, gymnastics and athletics, which perhaps explains all the dancers and figures in action in my portfolio.

My Background |
I was lucky enough to have had two inspirational art teachers at school - Mrs Wolfe for O level and Mrs Swanston for A level - and some artistic success, winning various national art competitions, including the British Airways & British Home Stores National competition in 1982. I took a degree in Fine Art & History of Art at the University of Reading from 1983 to 1987.
After that I went into Advertising Sales and Training, then progressed into various other sales jobs, had three children, ran a pub with my husband, went into local politics, worked in schools, and have moved several times. Art took a back seat for a while! I have lived in Beckenham, Chelsfield, Reading, Tunbridge Wells, Matfield and now live in Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire. Apart from painting, I enjoy photography, gardening, singing and swimming, and am slightly obsessed with stationery and handbags. I love old churches, castles and stately homes: my children have had to put up with many historical trips over the years! |
